What does the Nine West brand mean to you and the inspiration for this sketch?
Nine West to me shouts stylish and trendy . It is a highly spoken of name in my household with close family always visiting your stores . My inspiration for this sketch was multi functional yet versatile . As someone who likes an up to date wardrobe I wanted to design a product that you can wear in different ways . Speaking to many people about what they look for in bags and what they consider to be handsfree, many of them suggested bum bags or rucksacks yet felt in some situations the look was too casual . This made me design something that can be versatile in how your choose to wear it .
Why did you select these particular materials to work for your sketch?
The materials I selected was leather lamb napa . Lamb napa is light weight so it wont cause discomfort when situated over the body . The snakes skins pattern can be made using different materials such as faux leather.
What is your design background? Do you currently design your own handbags collection? Does this silhouette fit into your collection? Why or why not?
I am currently in my 3rd and final year of university . I have experimented with many styes and aesthetics . One thing that comes through on lot of my designs is colour . I love splashes of colour whether its bold or subtle .
How did you incorporate the inspiration of animal prints with a functional hands-free bag?
I wanted something thats very on trend and stylish as is a functional hands free bag.
What can you offer to the Nine West aesthetic? Do you follow Nine West on Instagram?
I can offer Nine West a new style of bag whilst still holding aspects of their much loved brand . I love Nine West's Instagram . The vibrance and the colours drew me in. I love the use of different settings and locations displayed your Instragram which straight away promotes the versatility I tried to incorperate in to my bag.
