Finalist of the The Aimee Kestenberg Signature Satchel

People's Republic Of China

2018 Finalist Qing Guo Handbagrace

Do you currently have your own brand or collection?
I'm an accessory design student and have several accessories collections. Here's my website: www.handbagrace.com

What is your personal aesthetic?
My design style is fun and quirky, but I also good at minimalism style. I tend to design simple pattern and make every details perfectly.

What are your current strengths & weaknesses as a designer?
My strengths, the first is software, I’m proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, illustrator and I could use SolidWorks and key shot to model 3D hardware. And I’m very very hardworking, and do everything very quickly. Last summer I took an internship. I did 14 mockups, including 2 huge canvas duff bags, 3 leather tote bags, 4 leather long wallets, 3 makeup zipper bags, 2 pouches, and made 4 paper patterns, one AI pattern, and dye leather in Indigo, pack 100 packages within 16 days. Besides, I had management and administration experience for four years. I was a project manager and my focus was on museum projects and exhibition design. It is very important to me to work in a collaborative environment. My weakness is, I graduate this quarter and only take three months summer internship, so I may be lack some working experience in the accessory design field.

Why did you decide on this design?
Tamitha Backpack is a unique design. I can tell it in bunches of other backpacks. I'd like to continue the Aimee Kestenberg brand DNA and design a simple but convertible bag. My design doesn't have complicated patterns. However, one strap with adjustable holes and two eyelets make the bag have 5 possibilities. I like to apply the simplest design to maximize the possibilities.

Why did you select these particular materials to work for your sketch?
I choose two metallic surface material, one is iridescent, and silver hardware. Metallic surface leather is trend fashion material and it has urban feeling.

What can you contribute to the Aimee Kestenberg brand?
First of all, major is accessory design, I familiar with the accessory design process. In college, I gained solid abilities in researching and concept developing, sketching, hand and computer rendering, specific sheets making, pattern making, hand sewing, and industrial machine sewing. I mentioned I have management and administration experience, It is very important for me to work in a collaborative environment. I love to share my ideas and work with a team. I have the ability to handle multiple works at once. I took two internships last summer, was doing new products design. I worked efficient, highly qualified, and got a good evaluation from my bosses.Besides, I applied fashion design when I enrolled by SCAD and then I transfer my major, so I also have the good sense of fashion.
