Jonathan Rubinstein FINALIST'S PROFILE

How are your bags made?
This Satchel Bag is 100% hand-sewn. The process that I always do is designing the bag first through paper mockups, then I transfer the patterns to the computer and for this specific bag, I l cutted the holes with the laser cutter so I can get a better quality and finishing.

What is the primary material used?
Natural vegetan and kidskin.

Do you make all of your own bags? If not, please explain who helps you make your bags.
Yes, I do the entire process from sketching and concepts to prototypes and final product.

What is your design inspiration?
I love taking inspiration from history and combine it with how I feel the future is going to look like. Technology is applied in all of my projects. I get inspired when I talk to other people who share the same passion. I'm always looking for minimalistic style and love to focus on little details.

What sewing machine do you use to make your bags? How long have you had it?
I use the ones that my college offer, Industrial machines; Jukis and Mausers. I don't own any sewing machine at the moment.

Have you ever sewn with or used an industrial sewing machine? If not, how do you sew with leather?
Yes, that's actually what I use every day here at school.
