What is your major?
Fashion Accessories Design
What inspires you?
I feel really inspired by art and architectural influences, but I believe it's important to have a great range of research sources. In this bag, for example, I have merged references such as African sculpture on flesh, contemporary art to the construction/deconstruction concept. The idea was to include the wearer in this process and deal with the user's moment as an experience. In this case, the bag is shown almost as a living thing that is constantly changing. The whole and ordinary outside surprisingly contrasts with the intricate inside. Like you have the feeling of peeling it off. Even though there are three designed ways to wear it, it's up to the consumer to try out the invisible magnets and see what will come out of it. Therefore, the product adapts to the consumer instead of becoming obsolete.
Are your bags already in production? Where are they manufactured and how many have you sold to date?
Not yet. I have made some final pieces, but I still need to plan a production schedule. Nowadays I manufacture them at the university since they possess the adequate equipment like cylinder arms and post machines.
What kind of technology do you use to create your bag?
The bag texture was developed from a personal drawing that I adapted in Illustrator. After that, I made several samples with laser cut and engraving, until I reach this final result. Also, the design development alternatives were made in Photoshop.
