The 9th Annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards

The Carlos Falchi

Iconoclast recipient

Rebecca Minkoff

With a vision of building a lifestyle brand for the downtown romantic, San Diego-born designer Rebecca Minkoff founded her company in 2001 after she developed a small apparel line. She spent the next few years working on the small collection until 2005 when Rebecca developed the 'Morning After Bag'. The bag became an overnight sensation and Rebecca began solely concentrating on developing additional styles to build out her romantically themed day-to-night handbag collection. After four years of consistent growth in accessories under her belt, Rebecca returned to her original love of apparel design and introduced a ready-to-wear collection in 2009. RebeccaMinkoff's designs are a favorite for modern, trend-setting everyday women and celebrities alike. This is the reason why Rebecca Minkoff is the ICONOCLAST Recipient for the Ninth Annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards.

Presented By

Hobo

Established in Annapolis, Maryland, in 1991, HOBO’s origins lie within the craft of leather. When Toni Ray, creator of the legendary 1970s D.C. Leather Shop, Georgetown Leather, passed the brand to her daughter, Koren Ray, in 2006, they both wanted to keep the company firmly grounded in the belief that our possessions should reflect our journey. Raised on the road in a VW bus, and spending time under the craft bench as her mother worked in her iconic shop, Koren learned first-hand to create with beauty, soul, and purpose. As HOBO thrives as a second generation, privately owned and family-operated brand, Koren and her husband, David Brewer, focus on creating beautiful, authentic leather goods that are made to last. They stay true to their passion and enduring design philosophy with handpicked leathers, timeless designs, flawless functionality, and a nostalgic tribute to the methods and soul of the 70s, creating bags that only get better with age. The HOBO Collection can be found at fine boutiques and department stores, as well as online at hobobags.com
